Show a widget with category-based discounts

Use this setup when you want a widget to mention the product category a visitor is browsing.

For example, a clothing store can show a 10% discount for dresses, tops, or jeans using one widget.

Before you begin

Add a category parameter to the page URL or campaign link. Use a category value that fits your widget text. Example URLs:

Product category

Example URL with category parameter

Dresses

Tops

Jeans

How to add a dynamic category to your widget

In the editor, we use a Merge Tag for URL query parameters to insert a category name into a widget.

1. Open the widget in Claspo’s editor.

2. Select the word in the widget text that should be replaced with the product category.

3. Click Merge Tag in the right panel.

4. Choose URL query parameter.

5. Enter category in the URL query parameter field.

6. Add an example value, such as {category}, to preview the text.

7. Click Save to move to the widget settings.

Check the display settings before publishing. You can change them if the offer should appear only on certain pages, devices, or visitor groups.

If the widget collects contact details, connect an integration first.

Click Publish widget when the setup is ready.

What visitors will see for each category

Claspo inserts the category value into the subscription offer. Example widget text:

“Love {category}? Subscribe now and shop your favorites with a 10% discount!” Visitors will see a message that matches the category:

  • dresses → “Love dresses? Subscribe now and shop your favorites with a 10% discount!”

  • tops → “Love tops? Subscribe now and shop your favorites with a 10% discount!”

  • jeans → “Love jeans? Subscribe now and shop your favorites with a 10% discount!”

You can also personalize widget text with UTM campaign values, so the message matches the ad or campaign a visitor came from. Read the tutorial.
