Partial submissions: how Claspo saves data when a widget is closed

Claspo can save form data even if a visitor closes a widget before submitting it

This helps you keep contacts that might otherwise be lost. It works automatically, so you do not need to turn it on manually.

How partial submissions work

A partial submission is created when a visitor enters all required form data but closes the widget before the regular submit action. Claspo tries to save entered data when all these conditions are met:

  • the visitor entered data in the form;

  • the visitor closes the widget before submitting it;

  • all required fields are filled in;

  • consent is accepted, if your form has a required consent checkbox.

For example, if email is the only required field and the visitor enters it, Claspo can save the submission after the widget is closed. If both email and phone number are required, but the visitor fills in only one of them, Claspo will not send the submission.

Supported widget types

Partial submissions are supported for:

  • pop-ups;

  • full-screens;

  • floating bars;

  • floating boxes.

What data can be saved

Partial submissions can include the same data as regular form submissions, depending on your widget setup. This may include:

If a value is not available when the widget is closed, it will not be sent with that submission.

When a visitor closes the widget, it closes right away. Claspo then tries to save the entered data in the background. This means partial submissions are not guaranteed in every case. For example, the browser, network, or page behavior may prevent the request from completing.

Where partial submissions appear

Partial submissions are saved as regular submissions. You can see them in the Leads section, and they are sent to connected integrations in the same way as other form submissions.
