Upload unique promo codes to Claspo widgets

A regular widget or game reward can give each visitor a separate code from a list.

To offer unique promo codes, you’ll need a list of codes ready to use in your store, app, or subscription billing service. Create them there and specify what they offer, when they expire, and how many times they can be used. Then upload the list to Claspo.

Prepare your promo code file

Prepare a CSV or TXT file with:

  • One promo code per row.

  • One column only.

  • UTF-8 encoding.

  • No spaces or commas within a code.

  • Up to 100,000 codes per upload.

  • A maximum file size of 10 MB.

  • A maximum of 64 characters per promo code.

For both CSV and TXT files, put each promo code on a separate line. Start with the first code, without a column heading or any additional text. Example:

When you upload the file, Claspo:

  • Skips empty entries.

  • Skips duplicates within the upload and across all promo code lists in the same project, including codes already issued to visitors.

  • Marks codes longer than 64 characters as invalid and skips them.

  • Preserves letter case and leading zeros.

Add a list to a regular widget

Open your widget in the Claspo editor and select the Promo Code component. If you need to add it first, follow Add and set up promo codes in Claspo widgets.

Click the pencil icon to open the code settings, then select Unique under Discount type.

Upload your CSV or TXT file.

After uploading the file, you’ll see its name and the number of unique promo codes that will be added.

Low-stock alert is enabled by default, with the notification threshold set to 50 remaining codes. You can change this number if you want to receive the email notification earlier or later.

Click Done to confirm the promo code settings. This does not create the list or add the codes yet.

The list is created and the codes are added only when you save the widget. If Save and apply is available, choose it. Otherwise, click Save.

Note

If a visitor reopens the widget or reloads the page within 30 minutes of receiving a promo code, they’ll see the same code.

Add lists to game rewards

1. Click the game component. In our example, this is Spin the wheel. The Rewards panel opens on the right.

2. Hover over the Discount entry for the reward you want to configure, then click the pencil icon.

3. In the Edit reward panel, select Unique under Discount type.

4. Upload the file for this reward and configure Low-stock alert if needed.

5. Repeat for each reward that uses unique codes. Use a separate list for each reward that offers unique codes.

6. Click Done, then save the widget to add the codes. If Save and apply is available, choose it. Otherwise, click Save.

You can combine unique codes and static codes in the same game. For general reward setup, see Set up promo codes in gamified widgets.

Check and replenish your lists

1. Open the widget in the Claspo editor.

2. Select the Promo Code component or the relevant game reward, then click the pencil icon to open its code settings, as described above.

Here you’ll see the total number of codes in the list and how many are currently available for distribution.

3. Click Add codes and upload a CSV or TXT file with additional promo codes.

4. Click Done to confirm the settings, then choose Save and apply when saving the widget to add the new codes.

For gamified widgets, you can also check the remaining codes under Analytics → Gamification. In the Reward distribution table, the Available codes column shows how many codes are still available for each reward.

Email notifications

The organization owner receives:

  • A low-stock email when the remaining code count reaches the configured threshold, if Low-stock alert is enabled.

  • An email when the list runs out of codes, even if Low-stock alert is disabled.

The low-stock email is sent once when the count reaches the threshold. If you replenish the list above that threshold, you can receive another alert when the count drops to it again.

When codes run out

Claspo stops showing the widget when its list runs out of codes. In a game, this happens if any active reward using unique codes runs out, even if other rewards still have codes. Winning probabilities do not change.

The widget remains Published. After you add and save more codes, it resumes showing automatically, provided all required lists have available codes.
