What is a pageview in Claspo?

In Claspo, a pageview is counted every time a visitor loads a page containing the Claspo script. This includes:

  • First-time visits.

  • Returning visits to the same page.

  • Page reloads or refreshes.

Important

  • We only count pageviews if at least one widget is published and active.

  • If all widgets are unpublished, expired, or scheduled for the future, Claspo pauses pageview tracking.

  • Pages without the Claspo script installed are not counted.

If the Claspo script runs — it’s considered a pageview. Therefore, you might think that it’s sufficient to install the script only on pages where widgets are displayed. While you can do that, be aware that it might lead to incorrect behavior of widget display conditions.

That’s why we strongly recommend installing the Claspo script on all pages of your website, ensuring the script collects the most accurate user behavior data and enabling the correct functioning of all display conditions.

Pageviews vs. impressions: what’s the difference?

One of the most common questions we get is: why does the number of pageviews often greatly exceed the number of actual widget displays? For example, you may see only 100 widget impressions, but the system counts over 1,000 pageviews.

This happens because a pageview is counted every time the Claspo script runs — even if no widget is ultimately shown. Each time a visitor opens a page with the script, Claspo evaluates all widget display rules in the background. That logic consumes resources and powers precise targeting — so it’s counted as usage.

This distinction is crucial:

Pageview

Widget impression

Counted each time a page loads the Claspo script

Counted only when a widget is actually displayed

Happens whether a widget shows or not

Happens only if a widget conditions trigger visibility

Determines your billing and usage plan

Does not affect billing

Why Claspo uses pageviews for billing

Each pageview triggers Claspo to evaluate widget display conditions (like scrolling percentage, device type, timing, and more). This evaluation is performed whether or not the widget eventually appears. This allows for precise targeting and effective user experience management.

Counting pageviews (instead of impressions) is not unique to Claspo — it’s the standard approach used by most platforms in the industry. It ensures:

  • Accurate evaluation of visitor behavior.

  • Consistent performance tracking.

  • Transparency and predictability in your billing and plan management.

How many pageviews are included in each plan

Claspo includes different amounts of pageviews per month, based on your subscription:

Plan

Pageviews/month

Free

30,000

Basic

100,000

Lite

unlimited

Advanced

250,000

Pro

500,000

You’ll see a usage bar in your account that helps you track how close you are to your limit.

When you hit 90%, we’ll notify all users by email. Once the limit is fully reached, your widgets will automatically pause to prevent unexpected charges or interruptions.

To keep things running, you can:

  • Upgrade to a higher plan — and get more pageviews plus more active widgets, sites, and users.

  • Buy extra pageviews — you can scale up to 60 million additional views per month — regardless of your plan. This is especially helpful if you experience seasonal spikes or rapid growth.

Pageviews are automatically reset monthly, based on your billing cycle. You can always see in your account:

  • Your current usage.

  • Plan limit.

  • Any extra pageviews you’ve purchased.

How to buy extra pageviews

You can add more pageviews anytime from inside your Claspo account. Here’s how:

  1. In the bottom left corner of your dashboard, click on your profile name.

  2. From the menu, select Organization.

  3. On the Organization page, scroll down to Additional servicesExtra pageviews.

  4. Click + Add to purchase extra pageviews.

Pricing starts at $20 per 1 million views. But the more you buy, the cheaper it gets — up to $10 per million (for example, 60M = $600). The pageviews are valid for 30 days, and you’ll see the total and recurring amount before confirming.
