You will learn how to create the discount in Shopify, apply its code to the cart automatically, and control who can redeem it.
For component setup, styling, and promo codes in game rewards, see Add and set up promo codes in Claspo widgets.
Create the discount code in Shopify
Start in your Shopify admin. Open Discounts and click Create discount.
Pick the discount type that matches your offer.
Under Method, select Discount code. You can type in your own code or let Shopify generate one for you.
Next, set the value — a percentage or a fixed amount — and choose whether the discount works for one-time purchases, subscriptions, or both.
You can make it available to everyone or limit it to selected markets, customer segments, or specific customers.
Add a minimum spend or item quantity only if your offer requires it. Set discount combinations if needed.
Set usage limits and active dates in Shopify
Claspo can show the code and control when the widget appears. Shopify controls how often the discount can be used and how long it remains valid.
Setting up the promo code in Shopify, scroll to Maximum discount uses. Here, you can set a total usage limit or allow each customer to use the code only once.
Next, check Active dates. Choose when the discount should start, and turn on Set end date if the offer is only available for a limited time.
After the end date, Shopify will no longer accept the code, even if it still appears in your Claspo widget. Keep the Shopify dates and your widget campaign schedule in sync.
Add the Shopify code to your Claspo widget
Copy the code you created in Shopify and use the same one in Claspo. Paste it into the Promo Code component, then open the General tab.
You’ll see the Apply promo code automatically.
Turn it on, and Claspo will add the code to the cart. The shopper can then continue to checkout without entering the code manually.
This option is only shown for sites connected to Shopify.
There’s one more thing you can do with Shopify data: use it directly in the widget text. With Merge tags, you can mention what is already in the shopper’s cart — for example, the product name, cart value, or number of items. You can also use customer details such as their order count, total spent, or customer tags when Shopify can recognize them.
See Shopify properties in Merge tags for the full list of available properties and setup steps.
